The Lenovo-backed ZUK is still a relatively new brand, first debuting with the ZUK Z1 in August of last year. Despite creating a fairly solid and well-rated product, the brand is still far off from being a household brand but that’s not stopping them from pushing forward with the company’s latest flagship, the ZUK 2 Pro. While last year’s model aimed for modest specs and a low price, the new ZUK 2 Pro takes the opposite approach in terms of under-the-hood power.
This time around, ZUK’s flagship is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 with a whopping 6GB LPDDR4 RAM, there’s also 128GB UFS 2.0 storage, a 3100 mAh battery with QC 3.0, USB Type-C, a fingerprint scanner, and a 5.2-inch 1080p Super AMOLED display. The camera is equally high-end with a 13MP ISOCELL shooter with a f/1.8 lens, OIS, PDAF, dual-tone LED flash and 1.34um pixel size. The front cam is also pretty solid with 8MP and 1.4um pixels. Similar to what we’ve seen from at least a few other Chinese phones, there is no NFC onboard, however.
The ZUK 2 Pro is launching in China as we speak, but it’s unclear what ZUK might have planned for the phone outside of its home country. If the original Z1 is anything to go by, it’s very possible an international version could arrive a bit later with Cyanogen-based software on board — though it is much less likely the phone will make its way over to the United States. What do you think of this one, based on what we currently know, impressed or not?
