If you pay a visit to the Google Store, you’ll find something missing: the Google Pixel 2 and Google Pixel 2 XL. As first spotted by Android Police, Google appears to no longer be selling its two 2017 devices.
The Google Pixel 2 product listing page was originally located here; a visit to that page now forwards you to the page for the Google Pixel 3, sending a not-so-subtle signal that you should probably buy that one instead.
This update to the Google Store isn’t all too surprising. In a matter of months, the Google Pixel 2 will be two years old and we’ll likely have a Google Pixel 4 on the way as well as the so-called Google Pixel 3 a and Google Pixel 3a XL.
However, that does mean that we can expect the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL to drop in price across the board. If Google is no longer selling the devices, it’s a good bet that the company is no longer making the devices, either. As such, you can expect lots of online stores to start doing fire sales of their last remaining product.
We’ve already seen some heavy discounts for the Pixel 2 XL, like this one from Best Buy which gets you a brand new device for only $400. Expect more to come!
The Pixel 2 still has one of the best cameras available today, and the device will continue to receive security patches and Android updates for the foreseeable future. It also is currently one of only a handful of devices that can run the first beta of Android Q, and likely will be able to run betas of Android R in 2020.
