Samsung Galaxy Note 9 update hub: Third One UI 2.0 beta lands

Samsung Galaxy Note 9 update

Update: December 18, 2019 (10:08 AM ET): The third One UI 2.0 beta update just landed on the Galaxy Note 9. Spotted by SamMobile, this update is essentially a feature freeze, and it comes with a short list of bug fixes.

The list includes a Samsung Pass app crash, unstable mobile hotspot connections, a Secure Folder iris recognition issue, a fix to S Pen air translation, and a few others. Since this list is so short and no features were added, the final stable version should be nearing its release.

The update is available in India right now. Users in the UK and South Korea should be getting it soon too. Navigate to Settings>Software update>Download and install to check if your device has received the update.

Original: Welcome to the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Android update hub. Here, you’ll find everything you need to know about the latest Galaxy Note 9 updates, including its current version, and when future updates are likely to arrive.

Galaxy Note 9 update

  • Current stable version: Android Pie
  • When will the Galaxy Note 9 get Android 10? January 2020 – March 2020 (estimated)

The Galaxy Note 9 arrived with Android Oreo on August 24. It started to receive Android Pie, the latest version of Android, in February. Android 10 is expected to be the last major software update it receives.

In June, the Galaxy Note 9 received an update that brought a Night mode for the camera app. Other additions in this update included a QR scanning functionality in the camera app.

Samsung announced the availability of the One UI 2.0 beta for the Note 9 in South Korea on November 20 (h/t: Sammobile). The same was later rolled out to users in the UK.

Just over a week later, the December security patch landed on Note 9 devices in Germany. This was quite remarkable considering it was still November and Google Pixel devices hadn’t even seen the update yet.

After the rollout in South Korea and UK, the Galaxy Note 9 started receiving the One UI 2.0 beta update in India. A Reddit post was also spotted suggesting that US Galaxy Note 9 users are next in line.

An update schedule released by Samsung Israel further divulged details on the possible stable Android 10 rollout timeline for the phone. According to the official roadmap, the Note 9 will get the stable Android 10 update in January.

While this could vary for different countries like UK, US, and India, it’s possible for Samsung to push the update in those markets around the same time.

In any event, users can sign up for the One UI 2.0 beta by downloading the Samsung Members app and tapping the relevant banner.
