This is how the iPhone 12 Pro Max could look

The 2020 iPhone SE was officially unveiled this week, and now it’s the iPhone 12’s turn to take center stage. We’re still a few months away from the launch of the iPhone 12 series, but a new design leak gives us a fairly good idea of what to expect from Apple’s 2020 flagships.

Youtube channel EverythingApplePro has leaked design renders of the alleged 6.7-inch iPhone 12 Pro Max in collaboration with tipster Max Weinbach. Not only did they leak CAD renders of the design based on information obtained from sources, they also 3D-printed a design model of the phone for the purpose of comparing it to the iPhone 11 Pro Max.

iPhone 12 Pro Max design changes

As you can probably spot in the video above, there are quite a few key differences between the design of the iPhone 11 Pro Max and the supposed iPhone 12 Pro Max.

For starters, the size of the notch and the bezels on the upcoming phone have been reduced noticeably. The video claims that the bezels on the new phone will be 0.9mm thinner than before.

The square camera module at the back gets bigger though, but doesn’t dig into the the palm as noted in the YouTube video. Looks like it’ll feature a quad sensor setup arranged in the shape of a square. The bottom right sensor is rumored to be a LiDAR sensor, possibly to support AR features.

The flash sits in the middle of the four sensors. The lenses themselves do not protrude as much as they do on the iPhone 11 Pro Max, but the square housing is slightly thicker.

Overall, the supposed design of the iPhone 12 Pro Max seems pretty reminiscent of the 2020 iPad Pro, with more sharply rounded edges and a flatter screen.

The CAD renders also suggests that the thickness of the iPhone 12 Pro Max stands at 7.4mm, making it thinner than the iPhone 11 Pro Max. However, the phone is said to be slightly taller and wider than its predecessor. The leakers claim that the iPhone 12 Pro Max has a higher screen/body ratio than the 11 Pro Max.

Another small design change on the phone is wider antenna bands reportedly owing to the inclusion of 5G capabilities. Meanwhile, the placement of the buttons and ports seems unchanged.

The YouTube channel will be posting another exclusive video over the weekend, detailing more features, cameras specs, and display details. So watch out for that one.
