Microsoft Announces Windows 10 20H2 For Beta Channel

Now that the May 2020 Update is out in the wild, it’s time to move on to the next major Windows Update, dubbed 20H2, that will arrive later this year. Microsoft has announced the first 20H2 Insider Build 19042.330 that will be rolled out via the new Beta Channel.

The upcoming 20H2 update is expected to be a minor update over Windows 10 2004 (20H1), similar to the 19H2. Microsoft said it will be pushed to the users’ devices just like monthly updates, and will reduce the installation time.

If you’re a part of the Insider program, you can go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update. Here, you will find the option to download Windows 10 20H2 Preview.

One major highlight of 20H2 is it comes with the new Microsoft Edge out of the box. The Chromium-based browser was released earlier this year, and it replaces the Legacy Edge browser on Windows 10.

The update comes just a day after Microsoft announced the new naming scheme for the Windows Insider Program. The Fast Ring is now Dev Channel, and Slow Ring is called Beta Channel, where we can expect a little more stable builds for early adopters.

We can expect Windows 10 20H2 to arrive sometime around September if all goes as per schedule, although it hasn’t been the case in the past. Also, Microsoft usually provides 18 months of support for Windows 10 feature updates, where it delivers bug fixes and security updates. So, the same should go for this 20H2 as well.
