A decade ago, people were not sure about the feasibility of EVs. However, today we are talking about the fastest electric cars. The most exciting thing about these hyper EVs is that each one of them accelerates quicker than one of the world’s fastest car Bugatti Chiron.
Electric cars are getting better each day, and the automakers have produced several electric vehicles that prove their dominance over ICE cars in every major segment. However, today we’ll be taking a look at the fastest electric cars on the planet.
Note: Most cars on this list haven’t been launched yet. So the final specs will change as their development nears completion.
5 Fastest Electric Cars On Earth
- Rimac C_Two
- Aspark Owl
- Tesla Roadster
- Pininfarina Battista
- Drako GTE
1. Rimac C_Two (258 mph) – One of The Fastest Electric Cars In Terms Of Speed
Rimac C_Two | |
Top Speed | 258 mph (412 km/h) |
Acceleration | 0 to 60 mph in 1.85 seconds |
Electric Range | 341 miles (WLTP) |
Price | $2,100,000(approx.) |
First on our list of fastest electric cars is this masterpiece from Croatian automaker Rimac. The Rimac C_Two is an electric hypercar powered by a 120 kWh battery pack that powers two front and two rear motors.
These electric motors produce a whopping 1914 BHP and a peak torque of 2300 Nm. It’s a track-oriented sports car with a low drag co-efficient of 0.28 Cd. One of the highlighting features of the car is the aerodynamic wheels that help it achieve such blistering top speed and acceleration.
2. Aspark Owl (248.5 mph) – Amongst The Fastest Accelerating Electric Cars
Aspark Owl | |
Top Speed | 248.5 mph (400 km/h) |
Acceleration | 0 to 60 mph in 1.69 seconds |
Electric Range | 279 miles |
Price | $3,200,000. |
This Japanese hyper electric car is one of the fastest accelerating electric cars on the planet. In most supercars, the chassis and other components are made up of carbon fiber and the Aspark Owl is no different either. Apart from the jaw-dropping acceleration, this electric car is full of powerful technical specs.
With only a 64 kWh battery pack powering the four electric motors, Aspark Owl can produce an output of 2012 BHP. Such high power output from a 64 kWh battery pack is an amazing feat. Even a mass-market EV like the Tesla Model Y has a battery pack bigger than this and it is much slower by comparison. Aspark Owl is only 99cm tall, which is probably the lowest height among road-legal cars.
3. Tesla Roadster (250+ mph)
Tesla Roadster | |
Top Speed | 250+ mph (402+ km/h) |
Acceleration | 0 to 60 mph in 1.9 seconds |
Electric Range | 620 miles |
Price | $ 200,000 (Base) |
Tesla Roadster is one of the fastest electric cars in the world. It’s a four-seater electric sports car from Tesla. With the help of three electric motors, it’s an all-wheel-drive sports car. The Tesla Roadster was first unveiled by Elon Musk at an event in 2017.
With about 10,000 Nm of wheel torque, the Roadster can complete a quarter-mile in just 8.8 seconds. For comparison, one of the world’s fastest cars, the Bugatti Chiron, lags behind the Tesla Roadster by more than a second as it takes about 9.9 seconds to finish a quarter-mile.
4. Pininfarina Battista (217 mph)
Pininfarina Battista | |
Top Speed | 217 mph (349 km/h) |
Acceleration | 0 to 62 mph in 2 seconds |
Electric Range | 310 miles |
Price | $2,190,000. |
Pininfarina Battista is limited to only 150 units of its kind. With its pure-electric powertrain, it can generate a whopping 1900 BHP and 2300 Nm of torque. The automaker claims that the power it produces is approximately twice that of an F1 race car. It’s also the most powerful road-legal hypercar made in Italy.
Under the body, a 120 kWh battery pack acts as a power source for motors. Moreover, the electric supercar can cover around 279 miles (450 km) on a single charge. Pininfarina Battista can achieve a top speed of 186 mph (300 km/h) in less than 12 seconds.
5. Drako GTE (206 mph)
Drako GTE | |
Top Speed | 206 mph (331 km/h) |
Acceleration | 0 to 62 mph in 2 seconds |
Electric Range | TBA |
Price | $1,250,000 |
This superfast electric car shares the same category as the Tesla Model S. It’s a four-door luxury electric sports car made by a company based in California, United States. It’s an all-wheel-drive sports car with quad-motors. Powering the motors is a 90 kWh battery pack that allows them to produce an impressive 1200 HP and 8800 Nm of wheel torque.
The electric car is optimized for both, track as well as normal roads. Its advanced torque vectoring system allows it to turn on sharp corners without losing any control. This hyper electric car has six driving modes: snow, ice, rain, dry, track, and race mode, which makes it perfect for any condition.
Fastest Cars In The World: Electric or Gasoline?
These fastest electric cars aren’t available on the market yet, but they undoubtedly have become the quickest cars in the world. They have left behind gasoline-run cars when it comes to acceleration.
If we look at the fastest cars in the world, then Rimac C_two sits on the seventh position in the overall list, including gasoline-run cars. These electric cars are already the fastest accelerating cars in the world, and the days are not far away when the electric vehicles will sit top on the list of fastest cars in the world.
This was our list of the fastest electric cars. However, if we miss out on any vehicle, then do let us know and we’ll include it here as well.
