Android Wear has Google Now, the Apple Watch has Siri, and Amazon has… well, Amazon still hasn’t created a smartwatch of its own, but perhaps this new crowdfunding project is the next best thing. The CoWatch has just come to Indiegogo, and it looks to bring the power of Amazon’s Alexa to your wrist.
Alexa is Amazon’s cloud-based voice service that’s accessible in the Echo, and now you can use it just about anywhere. Like other smartwatches on the market, the CoWatch will let you ask for traffic reports, control Bluetooth-connected devices, order an Uber, receive and reply to notifications and much more. The watch itself is running something called Cronologics OS, which was built by ex-Google and Android veterans. Judging by the promotional video attached below, the interface seems pretty customizable and intuitive.
As far as hardware is concerned, the CoWatch seems to be in line with other smartwatches on the market. It features a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor, 1 GB of RAM, 8 GB of on-board storage, and a Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 400 x 400. Additionally, it comes with an accelerometer, heart rate sensor and vibration motor. It’s compatible with both Android and iOS devices as well.
If you pledge your money soon, you’ll be able to pick up a CoWatch for just $159. These watches will ship sometime in June. If you end up waiting until the end of the campaign, you’ll have to pay the full $279 retail price. Interested? Follow the Indiegogo link below for more details.
